Q:
Hello Jen, I love your work, especially the fluid jersey look that Angelina Jolie wears, unfortunately I cant seem to find any sites or shops that stock this type of look regularly. I live in the west coast highlands of Scotland so its internet shopping this end for me - can you recommend any designers, shops or sites that would be a good place to visit? Many thanks for your time. Have a great week!Jackie

A:
Hi Jackie. Some of the fluid jersey looks you have seen recently are by Rachel Pally and her pieces are sold at many on-line stores. Shopbop.com and Revolveclothing.com are great resources. I also love brands like Velvet, Saint Grace, and Riller & Fount. Good luck on your shopping quest!

Q:
Would you ever consider hireing an intern? If so, where can I send my resume?

A:
Hi Mary. I have worked with interns in the past but they come from a few college programs. Mostly Emerson College in Boston and FIDM here in Los Angeles. Interns are usually required to work for college credit. You could look into interning in the fashion department of a magazine in your area? Thanks for asking.

Hi April. Sorry it has taken me so long to answer your question! The "Ask Jen" section of my site had a problem for a few months.
Do you have a website? If so, you should post pictures of whoever wears your pieces. You can also send the pictures with a press kit to Fashion Editors at weekly magazines in the hopes they will run something. You should also try to hire a fashion PR firm to help you garner more press. And a sales rep to get your pieces placed in stores.I'd love to see what you do so please email me a link to your site or a picture of one of your pieces. Thanks!

Q:
Hi Jen, I'm in my late 40's and would love to start a new career as a fashion stylist, after staying at home raising my 3 children. I feel it's too late to go back to school. I would appreciate any suggestions.

A:
Hi Kim. First off, it's never to late to go back to school, learning is a lifelong process! However, I don't think it's absolutely neccessary. Perhaps you should start by thinking locally. Who do you know that could use some fashion assistance from closet organization, figuring out what to keep, what to toss, what to alter, to taking them shopping and updating their wardrobe? All you need is one or 2 people to start with, then when people notice, they can spead the word about what you're doing. You can also look on craigslist.org, and entertainmentcareers.net for other opportunities in fashion. Hope this helps give you some ideas!

Q:
Hello Jennifer. I also like the clothing that Angelina Jolie wears. Did you design her wardrobe for the Luara Croft movies? I really like one of the long coats, the one she wears to the Artic. Would you let me know the name brands used in the movies, if at all possible? Or, did you design her clothes? I'd appreciate it very much. Have a fabulous week!

A:
Hey Sharon. I did not design the clothing for the Lara Croft films. Both Tombraider and Cradle of Life were Designed by Academy Award winning Costume Designer Lindy Hemming. She also Designed Casino Royale and the upcoming film The Dark Knight, among many other films! She's amazing!
Most of the time, on films of that magnitude, all of the key clothing pieces are custom made. That way multiples can be created and worn in various states, from clean to dirty, throughout the film.
Thanks for asking!

Q:
Hi Jen, how can I get Marilyn Manson to wear my clothing designs? I work for 2 top designers, and have been sewing and designing for years and would live it if he or anyone, wore my stuff.

Hey Aja! This is a question that many up and coming designers would like to have an answer to! It's tough when you're just starting out and want to get your designs noticed. There are a few ways to about placing your clothing on celebrities. One option is to hire a PR Firm to represent your brand and assist in placing your stuff in films, tv shows, editorials, and on celebs. You can also try reaching out to Stylists and sending images of your pieces for consideration. Or even submitting images directly to Fashion Editors? It also helps to have pieces in boutiques so Stylists can discover you. I hope this helps guide you!

Q:
Hey Jen! I see you´ve worked with Pink on the album photoshoot and the Stupid Girls video. Did you work with her on other projects? How is Pink as a person? I love the I´m Not Dead Photoshoots and I adore the styling you did.
–Reini

A:
Hi Reini. P!nk rocks! She is exactly as she seems, down to earth, funny, smart, and super talented!!! Whenever we work together, it's really fun and we laugh a lot! Stupid Girls was so much fun to work on. It was directed by one of my favorite directors, Dave Meyers. I also dressed P!nk for the Grammys last year and will hopefully work with her again when her next album comes out.
Thanks for your positive comments!
